"...You ever hear of Opteron?.."

Yes, I have heard of Opteron. It's made that outfit in sunnyvale, right? implying it's an architecture is a reach, but I would agree that Intel's own X86 architecture is a candidate to run super computers.

But then, this is assuming WAY too much in the way of assumptions about what it takes to run big iron. If you think that same x86 archicture that will soon run in green plastic PC with a hand crank will scale to big iron mainframes, OK by me. I'm not willing to make that leap in prediction.
