The Itanic IS unsinkable!
Its seems rather strange that the company that coined Moore's Law, now is in the best position to benefit from the end of the Law. When Moore's Law screeches to a halt (3 or 4 years - <25nm will never work), chip real-estate will be at a premium - so removing extra non-value-add crap from the chip would be the best way to improve speeds. That would mean removing pipeline optimizing circuits - and moving them to software. Yeah its tough to get started, but a revolution sometimes takes a while.
