Don't be surprised when your data disappears.
You realize that Flash ROMs have a write-wearout
mechanism, right? The exact number of write cycles
that can be accomplished varies from maybe a
hundred thousand to a few million, but it's
certainly not quasi-infinite as it is in a hard
drive.

So if you run a conventional operating system from
a flash drive, expect it to fail SOONER rather than
later.

Hard drives may be "error prone, ... ancient
technology" "junk" but right now, they're still
the best error prone ancient technology junk we
have if you want tos tore enormous amounts of
data and have unlimited, fast read-write access
to it.
