Does make one wonder...
... why Sun gives away potential sources of profit. The company is not going to be able to be an IBM-type services company, and as a wholesaler of processing power Sun's progress has been... sluggish.

The desperation move of open sourcing has often been followed by layoffs, justified by free labor replacing paid. I hope that doesn't occur in this case. Sun's only chance appears to be innovative work. That the company does not immediately give away.
