Great point. Any /business/ worth its salt maintains offsite backups of its data, knowing that a major disaster can easily take out one, two, or a thousand backups if they're all in the same physical location. Why would you want any less for your own valuable data? Just be sure your offsite location is sufficient to secure any sensitive data you may have backed up; certainly a safe deposit box would fit the bill on that.
