It's really not that hard
If you're savy enough to know what NAS is you can make a home network with it. It may not be 100% secure but that hasn't stopped anybody yet, and there are tons of services that will charge you a nominal fee to do the work for you.

Having your car repaired is more complicated and more expensive than the challenges of NAS and a network.
