The Bill Gates one is a blanket statement on par with the "'next big thing' no longer exists" comment.

However, I would not lump in the Thomas Watson unless he was intending to make a blanket statement and not simply speaking about what was going on in 1941 specifically. I have not read the context of the quote so please correct me...

And as far as Picasso... perhaps they are not useless, but they do pretty much only give you answers. The computer will only give you results that are compatible with the paradigm of the person that posed the questions because we use computers to validate equations, models, etc. It can't tell us how to be creative or innovative.
