G5 faster? you have no proof

Intel and Apple are trying to pretend AMD didn't beat them to 32/64. All of the independent benchmarks running actual applications shows AMD and Intel wiping the floor with the G5. AthlonFX and P4 single processor machines are faster than the dual-processor hypertranport (amd invention) G5. The new Athlon runs at the same clock speed as the G5 - so AMD, not G5, has the more efficient architecture - not to mention the on-die memory controller that no one has 'cept AMD. Opteron is also faster and was available in May of last year. I think the G5 nudges Apple alot closer to the pack - but they aren't in the lead and aren't ever likely to be. Server clusters with loads of G5's don't prove Apple can deliver top performance to the Mac. Just type the word benchmarks into your favorite search engine and read 'em and weep.
