Why Apple chose Intel
Apple could not get AMD to sign with them because AMD sells
every frickin' chip they make and could not guarantee the
number of chips that Apple needed.

Intel has excess capacity and was losing the Xbox chip sales, so
it was natural that they'd want to sell chips to Apple. It helps
turn the extra capacity into cash and soaks off some of the chips
already in the sales channel.

I'll be interested to see if Gartner et al start using Intel's sales of
Apple computers in their market share numbers. They did
include Xbox sales, so I'm sure Intel is heavily lobbying them to
use the Mac sales now.

Also, don't forget that once Apple is fully converted to Intel
chips, the switch to AMD won't be nearly as difficult as the one
from G5 to x86.
