Last year Macs has a sales increase significantly above the PC
market (something like 48%).

In the days when I used Dell (when they had US employees
providing excellent support) the computers I bought were in the
same general price range as the Macs I buy now. I always
upgraded the base unit and extended the warranty period for
the business computers. Switching to Apple cost no more for
me than playing the Dell game, but I get better service when I
need it. I also avoid the costs of malware protection and actually
enjoy some parts of iLife. Go to an Apple Store or CompUSA
store that has an Apple Rep and look at the new base 17" iMac.
Compare it (with all of the software) to a quality PC and you'll be
surprised. Just figure in 3rd party RAM upgrades as Apple is
very expensive in that area.

In terms of stability the OS has performed far better than 3.1
through XP. The problems a Mac user will have will generally be
related to an app that crashes (while the OS continues on) or a
hardware problem like a hard drive taking a dive. Since most
hardware on the Macs are the same as PCs the odds of a
hardware problem are the same.
