Bottom Line...
For what most people do (word processing, email and internet), AMD and Intel processors are more than adequate. Intel is the more recognizable brand, despite AMD blind siding them with the superior chip technology a few years ago. Superior doesn't always come out on top. Most average joe consumers care about price, not the nuances of processor technology.
