this is just a research platform used for experimenting with parallel system design. Even if they emulated a PPC processor (it can do that) Mac or Linux software could not run on it without huge changes and even then it would run painfully slow because Mac/Linux software is not written to take advantage of 16 CPU's, it would instead end up running your programs at 2 MHz.

I believe that it said that every processor runs at 2 MHz, you would need a lot more than 16 emultated processors to equal a normal computer.
