It appears to be an interesting research platform. While I doubt that PC market will see anything like this anytime soon if ever, this architecture might be well suited for embedded systems with restricted functionality such as backbone routers where many tasks such as route lookups, VPN or compression/decompression are running in parallel. In the past I have written software for commercial routers that had less cycles available than the RAMP1 produces. We made boards that computed routes before the packet finished arriving into our interface so that it could immediately be sent out a different interface, that is something that hardware such as the RAMP1 could easily do. I think that the software industry has a long way to go before they create a model that works well on several processors for any programming tasks. Most computer languages today are designed with working through a task in a serial fashion in mind, creating a language that is designed for parallel processing is going to take a change of mindset. I know that a gdb coredump of this system might be difficult to make sense of.
