The Empire strikes back !

AMD brought 64bits in 2003, a big bust after all the 'gotta have 64bits' hype. What AMD needs to do now is turn up the hype around Hyptertransport and Integrated Mem controller. It seems this will not be enough to the combat movement towards dual core (DC) because DC brings REAL user benefit, unlike 64bits.

Intel's multiported cache (shared cache) architecture is similar to Power5 and at least 1-2 generations ahead of AMD's HT. It is a great year to have DC reach mass market, 65nm and new OS's from Microsoft and Apple.

It's good to see AMD follow Intel and finally support DDR2 although it's bad that all that DDR1 and mortheboard investment is instantly obsolete. On the plus side, DDR2 will bring power and performance savings to all of us because of increased volumes.

The hard part is figuring our if I want a Microsoft based PC or an Apple based PC. Hmmmm. I think I'll get one of each!
