Anywhere in the world, the operating system expected is Windows.

Linux comes with a selection of free applications. But basic functionality is not the main issue.

People want the world's standard software amd the major applications that run on it. Partly that's a sensible decision about employment, but it's also a point of pride not to use something that's only cheap.

And partly it's the result of piracy. Turns out to be a worthwhile way to gain mindshare.
