Only one problem with this theory
Not to ruffle feathers but Open Solaris is not restrictive as is Linux when it comes to licensing or the encumberance of the existing GPL. With the CDDL license a developer can use the code base, customize it, and NOT have to give it away. To a "for-profit" developer it's a win-win situation.

It doesn't seem to be attracting significant numbers of developers, else Sun wouldn't be putting Plan B into effect (the original article, doesn't ya knows?)
