Upon reading the article, you've echoed my first thoughts exactly.

Heaven forbid (or is that Gates forbid???) MS and Intel should accept something of quality that's already out there for the taking. Why should anyone be surprised by this typical MS MO.

Yes... customers be damned for the sake of further control and domination.
