You are right! If we don't exercise our brains, instead of relying on others to think for us, we lose/forget the ability to work things out.

My math/electronics professor used to say "If the fraction-of-an-ounce chip in a calculator can do the equations, then your three-pound brain should be able to do them. What will you do when aliens steal all the batteries from your calculators"? grin
