You are talking here about interfaces being incompatible.

In the current situation, MS would be one of the possible engine makers and Skype would be a fanbelt maker who makes fanbelts for the MS engine that will only work to its fullest if the car has a GM sticker on the outside.

Skype works with Windows, not Windows on Intel. To tell your software that you will only run if your windows is loaded on an intel box is like saying your fanbelt will only work if a GM sticker is on the outside of the car.

Mitsubishi makes motors for many a car manufacturer, as does Toyota. The fanbelt only cares that the engine is the correct one (GM, Ford, Mitsubishi, Toyota) and not whether it is in a GM or Toyota boby (eg., Geo Metro, Toyota Tercel).
