Excuse me?
Both my desktop and my laptop proudly bear the AMD logo. And guess what? They run Skype's conferencing features fine. I think my dekstop could easily handle 10 users if they allowed it.

And they're telling me I can't use some features just because I don't use a particular brand of chip? IMHO AMD is right - this is a strongarm tactic by Intel.

"Intel is extending the verification concept it advanced with the Centrino platform to Viiv. Intel verified that more than 90,000 hot spots worldwide would work reliably with Centrino laptops."

Bah, humbug. My AMD-based laptop gets better wireless reception than most other laptops I know of; I have yet to find a hotspot that doesn't work. This is just marketing BS.

"It plans to do the same with Viiv, guaranteeing that certain content and home entertainment applications will run smoothly on Viiv PCs."

Again, just marketing BS. My AMD desktop (with a nice big PCIE bus) handles any form of multimedia, from teleconferencing to fullscreen video to top-of-the-line PC games all without any problems.

Anthing that doesn't work is only because they stuffed some chip-sniffing code in - and not because I can't handle it. Because I can handle it, and I dare them to prove me wrong.
