Too bad!
It's too bad.

With Intel's introduction of Nocona, people tend to believe that AMD's 64bit desktop strategy will pay off as Intel have to follow.

Intel has a full range of processors, exon and itanium for server/workstation while celeron and pentium for desktop. exon, celeron for budget and itanium, pentium for high end. On the contrary, AMD's only for low-end desktop, esp. DIY market.
Folks choose AMD cos it is cheap.

As a matter of fact, few buy Athlon64 as 4G memory makes no sense now. This can be beared out when AMD's CEO claim Opeteron is still alive. But it is dying!

The second mistake is the Nocona's compatibility with Athlon64. Intel should not have done this. I am sure most vendors will choose Intel's 32/64 chip if it is incompatible with Athlon64 and there will be no room for AMD.
