- No vision and poor execution.
-
I re-read the article a couple of times and still see no real vision described. Ummm, we want to build cheap (e-machines) and sell them, we want to build high end (business) machines and sell them. Pardon my saying so but, every PC maker wants that and as we all know, what you want and what you get is rarely the same thing.
Gateway managed to pull one quarter in to profitability in the last 13 quarters. Given the number of jobs they cut they better have! Of course having cut to the bone there is no more "fat" to trim next quarter and I suspect the CEO knew it. Good time to make for the exit.
Gateway has placed themselves in a no win situation with having spent the last serveral years of jumping from one "plan" to the next. Seemingly every quarter or two. When you are cash rich you can afford these little experiments, when your broke it's a train wreck in progress.
Do I have any confidence at all in the interim CEO? None, zip, nada. He is from the management team that got them to this point. If he had a great vision or leadership skills they would have manifested themselves long ago.
If Gateway is to survive at all it must find a CEO with vision and the determination to stick with it, even when the quarterly reports are in the red. - Posted by: No_Ax_to_Grind Posted on: 02/09/06 You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
