Check out Sun's website and read some of their press releases. They've achieved quite a lot. Solaris 10 is running on a lot of systems, the niagara chips are on the market, they've created a lot of interoperability with Microsoft products and they've made it cheap and easy to get their OS and software running on just about any hardware in the server rack.
