Non Intel Chips
I like non Intel chips. Unfortunately, my budget was a little thin when I purchased my first comp for school so it had a Cyrix based chip in it. The thing still works and is used for the most rudamentary email and other tasks.

Fast forward to my laptop. Similar Intel based systems were several hundred $$$ more. Again on a shoestring budget I opted for a non-Intel system and got a sweet AMD 1 GHz system. It works fine and some BIOS updates later all systems are go.

I guess the lesson learned is, I've been satisfied with non-Intel systems since they meet my needs and budget. Oh and neither system has burned to a crisp either. I think some people have pushed the envelop too far and experience the consequences of overclocking a system.
