Allies pledge $10 billion to boost Itanium

Opteron? Intel can't face the music?: This smacks of denial. Why throw good money after bad when your competitor just thrashed you head on. Cut your losses and proceed with the needed change of direction.

Why does this article repeatedly mention anything but AMD's enormous success in the server market with the Opteron chip?

I'll explain both of the above for you: Intel is still in denial, as incredible as that is.

1) Market share
