Tapping out a drive
"There will always be a need for storage, but when was the last
time you tapped out a drive?""

I've managed to completely fill up the drive of every computer
I've ever owned. Each new computer has a bigger hard drive,
and with that, software writers seem to take that as a license to
make their programs bigger and bigger. One example--Mac
OSX wants at least 5 Gb of swap space to run well (the rule of
thumb is usually to leave 10% of your hard drive free for this).

So no, 30 Gb is not going to cut it. Also factor in that we're
being encouraged to do more and more with music and video
files on our computers, which can take up a ton of space.

When they get flash drives that are at least 100 Gb and that cost
the same small amount that a traditional hard drive costs, then
we'll talk. There are tons of advantages to using them, but for
the foreseeable future, it's not going to be very practical.
