Well you can't use a MAC Sata Hard Drive in a PC can you? In the PC world you can take a SATA drive from an HP and put in in dell and it will work. MACs have propietary firmware on most of their devices. The same goes with their video cards and many other devices. Just because MAC adopted many of the standards that a PC uses doesn't mean it has become universal.
Oh and response to your profitibility post, that is because Apple charges more for their hardware and I think they make more revenue from IPods than PCs. Another propietary device. You can only use the darn thing with Itunes. With many others from Creative or whomever you can use Napster, Musicmatch, Windows Media Player, or Rhapsody to name a few.
