Dusty brands make a rerun in TV market

I don't think many people buy brand name unless there are compelling reasons; e.g., friends' recommendations, past use, etc. I think that if I could test a Westinghouse tv against a Sony and the comparison was favorable across the board, I can't imagine not buying Westinghouse.
To this day, the only brand that I buy is AMD. I don't immediately rule out Intel, but when I see AMD I feel certain that I am getting a good chunk of hardware.
