A better question
How do you convince people to stop using 20 year old technology? Just as the F-4 Phantom jet was proof that a brick could fly - given enough thrust - the x86 is proof that given an initial (flawed) design, cranking up the speed is all that is required to keep selling. The WinTel duopoly has saddled us with an Edsel with a 3,000,000 horsepower engine. Its nice if you want to go fast - but wouldn't a nice Ferrari with that same engine be better?
