What people don't get
EPIC *IS* the future of computing - no matter how long it takes to get there. When Moore's Law ends, and a piece of silicon can ONLY hold X number of transistors - how will you configure those transistors? If you make your (RISC) chip with branch prediction, you will have room for say 25 registers. If I make MY (EPIC) chip - without branch prediction - I can have room for say 50 registers (BTW the CISC x86 "core" would have room for only 10 registers).

What does this mean? It means the same application would/could run faster on EPIC. Not in all circumstances mind you, but in a great majority of them.

EPIC IS the future. Itanium is the chip. Never mind that it will take another 10 years, the tortoise WILL win this race.
