So your saying StarOffice profits are down because of OOo
"Sun has given away Star Office via Open Office. They are now
giving away the design for a very proprietary chip. If they give
away Java, what's left? There has to be some revenue stream that
will pay the light bill."

Sun hasn't given away StarOffice, what they have done is made
considerable portions of its code available under an open source
license. This has quickly propelled the platform as the #2 Office
suite with a active and growing community advancing that
platform. Sun continues to generate revenue from StarOffice.

The same could be done with Java. Alternatively it runs the risk
of being second place to mono in the Linux world (particularly
given Mono's support from Novell).
