Glad some one brought that up...
AMD is still growing, while Intel has managed to build a nice cache of cash.

If Intel continues to sink money into pointless R&D, then AMD may gain the upperhand. But as long as Intel can out produce AMD, they will still be able to fill that void of PCs that don't have processors because AMD can't keep the shelves stocked.

Also keep in mind that Intel and IBM ran into manufacturing difficulties with jumping into the 90nm fabrication. AMD dodged this. AMD may still have the upperhand by learning from the mistakes of Intel.
