I agree: semantics
I think our discussion really does boil down to semantics. Going back to the original poster's talkback, which was the one I originally replied to:
Microsoft = RENT your music and pay...and pay...and pay to play it on Microsoft-licensed equipment.

Apple = BUY your music once and it's your (albeit only playable on Apple-licensed equipment.

Once I pay for my music the FIRST time, it should be mine for as long as I have a player to play it on.

How can you defend the original argument that WMA encrypted files are rented but iTunes encrypted files are owned? Remember, you have to use either your semantic definition of "owned" for both WMA and iTunes, or my definition for both. You can't use your definition for Apple and my definition for Microsoft.
