MS only likes standards they impose
Not only does MS ignore standards for websites, but they also ignore standards for documents - witness the Mass situation. Unfortunately, they make so much money from Windows and Office that they can usually buy their way through any opposition. MS only pushes in directions to make money for themselves, and to grow their ill-gotten domination.
