I wonder if these will wifi together to make a comms network
with some directional antennae, this would be excellent.

It's excellent news anyway.
Often kids in poor countries are deprived of access to
information, and at this price this one laptop is the price of a
decent book, so hopefully the kids will get a lot lot more out of
it.
