AMD in the Enterprise
Hmm, can you say IBM servers, Sun Servers, rumors of HP servers all using AMD Opteron parts?

If there were stability problems with AMD platforms, do you think these companies would be selling these servers?

How about Nasa, Lawrence Livermore Labs, Sandia Labs, Boeing, and the numerous universities using clusters based upon AMD?

Stop living in the past, AMD has not had stability issues since the K5/K6 days.

Do chipset vendors have issues from time to time? Yes, but so do Intel chipsets. The technical requirements for a chipset are pretty complex. As complex, if not more so than the processor. Working out things like PCI, PCI-X, AGP timings, is no easy task. Combine that with interfacing to low speed I/O devices like IDE, USB, keyboards and mice, etc. and you have a lot of data transactions that need to work together.

Don't misunderstand me, designing and producing a processor is an incredibly complex operation, it is just that sometimes chipset vendors take heat for having some minor issues (most are minor) with chipset timings.

Just something to think about.

Regards,
Java
