"The cost of a tablet PC is $200 (7,000 Taiwan dollars) more than its notebook counterpart. Of this difference, the hardware cost is only between $30 and $60. The majority of the difference comes from the OS license
So the cost of a tablet OS license is $140-170 more than a "traditional" Windows license? I find that hard to believe..
Either Acer is increasing their profit margin (and blaming the price increase on Microsoft), or MS is gouging consumers. I would tend to believe the former, unless Tablet OS comes with Office built-in or something, in which case the price is probably justified.
And where do they get that $200 figure from, anyway? My experience is tablet PCs are often $1000 more than laptops.. I see laptops available in the $1000 range, but never have I seen a tablet below $2000.. - Posted by: d_jedi Posted on: 10/23/03 You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
