- sun fabbed it's 1st 64 bit CPU in 1992
-
In October, the bugs were worked out by 1996
INTEl and AMD were fighting to go from 16
then on to 32 bit at that Time. In 1998
Sun was Working on 128 bit Parallel Computing
and Were doing 16 to 32 CPU arrays in Parallel
Intel, and AMD are still doing Series with
the magic 8 CPU Limit, as it is the limit ofGain for the Serial CPU String, with the 8th CPU gain
as almost negligable, in fact the Gain from the 4th CPU in the string to the 8th in hardly worth
the price of the individual CPU.
Sun does Parallel CPU's with Significantly Higher gain and better Memory Control, both Intel and
AMD are Virgins in this area of Design.
but When the via habakuk 64 bit Cpu Series
come out , they have lost the race, unless transmeta actually has something besides Low Power. - Posted by: cygnet@... Posted on: 10/15/03 You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
