That somehow becomes a story at least once every year. Their accessories store is separate from the computer sales business. There is no hidden meaning in this. It has happened many times. Each and every time they did not suddenly start using AMD CPUs in their computers. This boils down to bad reporting by many websites who have not paid any attention over the years. It is ridiculous.
As I recall Dell bought online computer parts business around 1999 when I worked there, and they continued their product relationships and product lineup despite Dell's Intel only stance. Dell then took out products that would compete with their own, like HP printers when they had the Lexmark deal.
We ran a story last December on Dell selling Opteron servers from a 3rd party. That is much bigger news than this, and we verified it with Dell salespeople we know here.

Then back in March of 2004 they were selling Opteron CPUs in the same accessories store.

Like I said this story breaks every year, and every year it has no meaning as to whether Dell will adopt AMD CPUs in their computers. Of course every time Dell opens his mouth about AMD that for some reason is a big story even though he lies every time. Can someone explain why that is never pointed out, and why this story is worthy news instead? - Posted by: christom Posted on: 11/08/05 You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
