Wrong...
To equate HyperThreading to HyperTransport indicates that you don't know enough to know the difference.

Ooo...an article from Thoms Hardware. That must be all that's needed to convince you. I'll take my production systems as my benchie. Intel lags in a big way. You need to look at what's available in the server market to see where the desktop is going.

Want to see Intel's technology lead?

Those are little 2-socket 4-core Opteron servers beating big 4-socket 8-logical CPU Xeon servers using HyperThreading and almost a 30% processor speed advantage. I wonder which ones are cheaper to buy and run 24x7x365?

You may also want to read this article to understand the AMD advantages in the multi-core arena.

Intel had a lot more market share and they have been steadily losing ground. They have been the de facto standard, so it makes sense that they won't lose their majority stake in a few quarters. Get back to me next year when the difference is far less noticeable.

If Intel's R&D is so good, how did they lose their dominance and find themselves in the hole that they're in? I guess dollars don't equate to technological advantage after all. As you admit, they need to "rebound" from their current position. The problem for them is that AMD is leading the way in x86 technology. Intel has a task akin to trying to design, build, and install new jet engines for an airplane while it's in flight. AMD isn't going to wait for them to catch up.
