"Enteresting" Ploy
Enhanced or "EVD"

It doesn't have to sell, it is an "Enteresting" Ploy. The Chinese patent it, put it on every machine made and sold in China.

If you want to do business in China, including selling to or having your products or parts made IN China, you are required by law to include this wonderful new Chinese invention in your product. AND, you have to pay royalties to the Chinese because it IS patented.

On the other hand, you can trade patents (cross-license) with the Chinese. If you let them use the Sony and NEC patents and lots of other patents) free of charge, then you can use their patents (or even ignore them) without charge.

Don't forget, MANY parts of things are made in China, even if it has a Japanese, Korean, or even US label on it as a whole.

This little Enhanced DVD ploy will ensure that the Chinese products will have a chance in the overall market that they would never have had, otherwise.

"Engenious" don't you think?
