The proof is very simple
Refraction occurs because of the change in the speed of the light through varioous mediums.

Prisms, camera lenses, etc. would not be possible otherwise. How else do you think a lens can bend light, if it isn't because the thickness and shape of the lens depends of light changing speed in order to change it's path.

However, the speed of the light on either side of the prism.

Basically light has a constant velocity, that velocity is constant for a given medium. (vast over simplification)

so, the speed of light through air is different than the speed of light through water, or glass. But if you measured the speed before it passed through a glass of water, and immeadiately after the speeds would be identical. A measurement of the speed within the glass of water would be slower.

Over simplification, but the proof you seek is all around you.
