terrific speed makes time stand still ?
Your message states; "What would happen if we could travel at a terrific speed, say approaching the speed of light, would make time seem to stand still for us compared to those who remain at a relatively low speed. We would return to earth and it might be 20 years later depending on our distance traveled, and we would be only minutes/hours older."
---------
If we travel at a speed that approaches the speed of light then we would gain a lot of distance in the given time frame, but the same amount of time would have passed.
If on the other hand we were actually living in a much accelerated experiences in time speed then what you state would be true.
It would reason that if we were dropping through space at a quicker rate than that which surrounds us that we could travel further ahead in space-time and the vice-versa could also be held true.
It does not reason however that we could go back and walk among the dinosaurs on Earth or to travel 30 years into the future on Earth and watch the World Series for that year, because to travel ahead in space-time we would have to leave Earth behind and the same would hold true for reverse space-time.
Actually by dropping faster than Earth we would not be reaching a point in space where Earth would be in 30 years, but rather we would be entering into a different space-time dimension surrounded by perhaps unknown galaxies and universe's.
This is pretty weird to think about. I can see the possibilites but not the probabilities because of the lack of possibility of recording/transmitting devices of such an infinitly small scale.
