We could ditch ones and zeroes now with current technology. Light processing is not required for this.

The alteration of light photons in 'atmospheres' is problematic at best. How can one maintain the environment needed to affect the light in the desired way?

Magnetic fields are interesting to me, especially their effect on light, as is the idea of a photon carrying complex data, though it would most likely be a series of photons. How can one encrypt a single photon with a program baffles me, unless the photon undergoes a series of changes in transmission.

Light processing is the future, but the future is not now.
