Market domination
BTW, according to ISC (Q205) the only server market dominated by Dell is the 1P space at 16% They tie HP in the 2P space(which is by far the largest market segment)with IBM barely breaking 13%.

The 4-way space is owned by HP at over half of all units. Dell sits at 10% and IBM does not make 20%.

The tiny 8-way server market again goes to HP by a wide margin with 80%, and THEY are getting out of the 8-socket biz as had Dell.

That means IBM will be the only major Vendor selling an 8-socket box (and yeah.. they are really 4-ways hooked together with wires and mirrors.)

So Sun will be the only REAL player in this market just in time for virtualization on large boxes to hit its stride.

If these guys have two brain cells to rub together (and it appears they do) they can make a living in this space, and perhaps even thrive.

They are going after the Unix space, not the low-end SMB file servers. Dell can't even take those guys out for a free lunch!!!
