Wondering About Another Memory Format?
i guess i'll have to be cynical here: consumers aren't so ignorant as to wonder why yet another memory format is "needed". they know that the mfg's are obviously relishing their profits as many consumers find that they're having to buy multiple formats to support multiple toys. and, this incompatibility means that certain synergies are denied to the consumers; synergies that could bring profits to high tech companies. being able to share a memory card between devices not only saves bucks (having just spend $325 for cf for my camera i understand how much these little buggers cost), but also permits certain sharing of data that could be beneficial to the consumer--app's that will never be created, or that will be created only within a proprietary product line, because of these incompatible formats.
