Good reasons people abandoning Dell
It's not just Dell's still abysmal tech support (heck, the two times I called Gateway for support on my new notebook, a live technician answered within 25 seconds), but Dell continues to use proprietary parts and refuses to use AMD processors. I can't, in good conscience, advise a client to buy a Dell computer. Monitors, yes, computers no. I love the 20" Dell LCD monitor I bought, but the purchasing process, high pressure salesman, and convoluted way of matching the lower price Dell charged two days after I ordered make we wonder if I'd ever buy from Dell myself. And frankly, the computers I and other whitebox manufacturers build are far better machines than anything Dell produces -- and they are properly configured unlike what Dell and the other big boys produce.
