It's about customer service
I used, and recommended, Dells for many years. Their customer
service was excellent - actual Dell employees that were eager to
take care of your problems and keep you a happy (and returning)
customer. Then they tossed customer service to a company that
makes money by keeping the calls as short as possible. You get
told to reinstall XP and things will be fine. That and the line
"you've had your computer for a log time and it has a lot of
programs and data in it" - not.

My rule now is to buy from companies that have their own
employees handling support. Right now it's Apple and they are
as good as Dell used to be.
