Why I haven't switched to broadband
My housemate and I share a Starpower dialup connection. Works our to about $10/month for each of us. We recently moved, and I considered having broadband installed with the move. It looked like it wouldn't actually cost us any more than we were currently paying after I eliminated the second phone line with both its local and long distance service. But my housemate travels and needs dialup access. If we switched to broadband, there was NO dialup service included, if either the service was down, or when either of us is on the road. It was available as an add-on, but would cost nearly as much as the current dial-up connection we have.

Bottom line: broadband still costs too much.
