Your scenario is scary but possible
It is very possible that we will face such a problem in the US and in other industrialized nations. But consider this, as the third world also become industrialized and their labor surplus dries up, don't you think that their wages and benefits will increase.

I am afraid that the pendulum is swinging away from the world's current industrial nations and toward the third world. Just as the pendulum swung 200 or so years ago from Europe to the Americas.

I don't want to look into my crystal ball and see America with a 25% unemployment rate, but this could happen. As governments continue to place harsher requirements on employers regarding workplace entitlements, the jobs will continue shifting away from those countries.

If you think that corporate tax breaks are a bad thing, then you really don't understand who pays those taxes. Ultimately those taxes become part of YOUR cost of living. So while you watch Uncle Sam or the British equivalent confiscate more than half of what you earn in taxes (add them all up, not just income taxes), consider that you are paying even more taxes when you purchase any product or service ... built right into the price. And then your local governments add even more in the form of sales taxes. Government is a huge, resource wasting monster with an insatiable appetite.
